Program Basics

Open-Door Policy

Parents are welcome to visit CDO at any time during the hours of operation.   Parents may observe their child, the operation of CDO and the program activities without having to secure prior approval; we do ask that you check in at the CDO office before you head to your child’s classroom.

Questions or Concerns

Parents that have questions or concerns regarding their child or their child’s teacher are asked to contact the teacher directly.  If further discussion is required, parents are welcome to visit with the CDO Director or the chairperson of the CDO Board.

Guidance Methods

CDO uses guidance and discipline techniques that are based on an understanding of individual needs and development while promoting self-discipline and acceptable behavior.  The use of positive guidance methods help children learn self control without the loss of self esteem.  Limits are clearly stated in positive terms.  A variety of other methods for encouraging children’s cooperation are used.  These include redirection, positive reinforcement and choices between acceptable behaviors.

Compliance

Children’s Day Out is subject to and follows the Minimum Standard Rules for Licensed Child-Care Centers prescribed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.  A copy of these rules is located in the Director’s office along with the centers most recent Licensing inspection report.   Parents may contact the local licensing office by calling 834-3195.  The DFPS child abuse hotline number is 1-800-252-5400 and the DFPS website is www.dfps.state.tx.us.
